Anonymous: Was there any particular reason why Deathcry wasn't actually there for the first story arc in Busiek's Avengers? It seemed weird since the effort was made to drag in every possible Avenger you could but Deathcry, who wasn't been used elsewhere and wouldn't be used again for a long time, wasn't around.

Deathcry was dumb.

Deathcry’s on p 18 of the first issue, along with other past members who were dead, missing or otherwise unavailable. As I recall, she was off-planet at the time, and wouldn’t have been reachable by either the heroes or the villains.

Otherwise, she’d have been there. We had Darkhawk and Magdalene show up, after all. We could have fit her in, had she been around.

(Cue angry hordes (?) of Darkhawk fans and that Magdalene fan over there…)
