Anonymous: While you can't put Hank Pym's wifebeating back in the bottle, you could essentially erase the story in any number of ways, giving Marvel plausible deniability i.e. "the Hank Pym who hit his wife was an extradimensional doppleganger (just as an example), and not the character who was a Marvel mainstay for 30 years before that incident." No more outlandish than One More Day, is it?

brevoortformspring:

That’s a thirty year old story at this point, it’s incredibly outlandish.

Actually, they have retcon’d the beating a couple times to say that Hank Pym was influenced by Kang (I think, please correct me on that one) or Egghead was behind it.  These are old explanations and every new writer seems to want to talk about the incident because it’s dramatic and different in a superhero’s story, so it keeps rising to the surface.  Hank will find redemption in some way, then another writer will come aboard and bring it back up.  Nowadays, it seems like the character is owning what happened and maybe this time it will stick.
