variantedmonton: In regards to folks crying over the price point of All New X-Factor: having worked in retail for years, the readership loss between the $2.99 and $3.99 price points are negligible. At my shop, readership loss clocks in at roughly 1%. I'm not saying I *like* the price point, but as a business, Marvel would be silly not to price their books at what they'll sell at.

Well, the people crying over the price point are crying because of the overall cost of their books, and how they’d like to be able to get more and could if the books were cheaper. That’s not a wrong feeling, surely.

But you’re correct in that we need to price the books at the level that allows both them and us (and you as a Retailer0 to survive, and that’s what we do.

Also, it’s pretty clear that the reverse is also true, that readers will not flock to a book simply because it has a cheaper cover price. They want the books they like to cost less, they don’t like the books because of the price.
